                                     Final Part #1

Class/Self Evaluation
1A)What I liked about this class is that I had my own computer.
What I didn't like about this class is that I'm always sleepy and the classic music didn't help.
1B)Suggestions to improve this class:
Teach things that catch our attention
2)I have been doing my best in this class. I've been doing all my assignments and keeping up with the work.
3)I am committed to choosing the right, but from what I believe is right, not everybody else.

Six Ways to Make People Like you. If you want people to like you....
Rule #1:Become genuinely interested in other people.
"Do this and you will be welcome anywhere."
"You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you."
"Ask questions to other people, questions that they would enjoy answering."
“The only good teachers for you are those friends who love you, who think you are interesting, or very important, or wonderfully funny; whose attitude is:
"Tell me more. Tell me all you can. I want to understand more about everything you feel and know and all the changes inside and out of you. Let more come out."

And if you have no such friend,--and you want to write,--well, then you must imagine one. ”
― Brenda Ueland
Reflection: Continue asking and asking, don't get too tired to quickly. If you really want to get to know someone, ask them things. Let them know you are interested in what they have to say, in how their days been, why you are the way you are, etc. Just continue asking, people dig people that actually listen to them and wonder things about them.
 Rule #2:Smile
"Actions speak louder than words, and a smile says, "I like you. You make me happy. I am glad to see you."
"You don't feel like smiling? Then force yourself to smile."
"It creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in a business, and is the countersign (witness or indication) of friends."
It's always good to smile, it picks up the mood and just makes you look physically better. No matter what it is that you are going through just make sure to smile. It also makes you seem friendly and people are able to approach you without feeling much weird about it.

Rule #3: Remember Names
1) "A man's name is to him the sweetest and most important sound in any language."
2) "If you don't remember names, you are headed for trouble."
I always have trouble remembering three things:faces, names, and I can't remember what the third thing is.  -Fred
It's always important to remember people's names, although I tend to forget people's names. I have a bad memory and from time to time does make me forget people's names. It isn't a good thing to do so because then people believe that they weren't as important to you for you to at least be able to remember their name. When people talk to me and don't know my name it, I don't necessarily care but other people feel wack that you don't know it. You might simply not care because you don't think meeting that person will matter in the long run but you never know.
Remembering people's names needs a slightly different approach from all the others explained so far in this section. one must remember to have chosen the right hearing technique. Be committed to know a persons name.
Rule #4: Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves
"If you aspire to be a good conversationalist, be an attentive listener."
"Remember that the man you are talking to is a hundred times more interested in himself and his wants and his problems than he is in you and your problems.
"Listening is an art that requires attention over talent, spirit over ego, others over self."
when talking to another person its always important to listen to what they are saying. They're are speaking whats on their mind hoping that you are listening rather than just standing there waiting to reply to what they said. for example, I can be standing there while a person is talking and not hear anything they said. I could have chosen to ignore them without them noticing until the very end. If the person is telling you a certain thing it's because they want to let you know whats going on their mind. It's disrespectful if you don't listen.
5 tips for active listening:
1) Stay focused, keep touch, and maintain eye contact2) really listen, don't think about your experience or what you have to say next3) allow for periods of silence, wait till the other person speaks again4) repeat the other persons words or paraphrase it back to them 5) understand the emotions behind the words
Rule #5: Talk in terms of the other man's interest.
"The royal road to a man's heart is to talk to him about the things he treasures most."
Have an interesting conversation. don't just tend to be very boring. If you make the conversation interesting the person would want to remain talking to you rather than stop talking to you or simply ignoring you. If you begin the conversation about things that he treasures, they would just want to continue talking to you because you seem interested in them. you are giving them the attention they seek although they may not admit it.
Rule #6: Make the other person feel important-- and do it sincerely.
"The desire to be important is the deepest urge in human nature." (John Dewey)" Helping people feel important and appreciated works magic."
When talking to somebody its nice to make them feel important. The person you are talking to knows that you are giving them the attention they desire on a daily basis without really noticing. They enjoy the fact that somebody is actually giving them attention, that somebody actually wants to listen to what they are saying.
"Pretend that every single person you meet has a sign around his or her neck that says. 'Make me feel important.' Not only will you succeed in sales, you will succeed in life."
-Mary Kay Ash
Show that you have interest in a person even when you don't. It will always have positive results benefiting you most of the time.
Reflection: "Six Way to Make People Like You."
Its up to the person if they want people to like them or not. We don't necessarily have to make people like us but if we do want people to like us then the six ways to make people like you are perfect for such situation. It teaches us how to listen, talk, and behave around people in order for people to like us.

                                                           Cunningham
Summary:
Cunningham as a child lit up a stove without knowing there was coal in it from the previous night. he was sitting near it when it began to explode reaching his legs. he was then told by the doctors that he wouldn't be able to walk anymore. But he was determined to fulfill his dreams of becoming an Olympic runner and becoming a doctor. with the help of the massages his mom would give him he was able to walk again. He then joined the school football team and succeeded in high school. he was able to obtain a scholarship but rejected it because he wanted to succeed on his own. He ran track and got his coach's attention. he was able to run a mile in 4:04 close to beating the 4 minute mile. He won a silver medal in the Olympics. He then retired from running and became a doctor. He got married and had 10 kids.
Reflection:
In my perspective Cunningham is a great example of somebody who doesn't give up and keeps going. He was supposed to not walk anymore according to the doctors yet instead he was able to walk again and became famous for the use of his legs. He was able to participate in the Olympics and become a doctor just like he dreamed. He could've gave up but instead was determined to keep going. This encourages me to keep going. No matter what obstacles life gives me, I know I should keep going until I succeed.

"The Six Attitudes of High Achievers"
                                                                   High Achievers
1)Make no small plans
High Achievers- These are the people who excel in terms of skills and responsibilities. Results-driven and motivated, they work to a high standard, with little need for supervision or hand-holding.
If a high achiever is going to do something, they're going to do something that requires big plans. Going towards the top is never easy, therefore they have a well evaluated detailed plan on what they are planning to do and how. They go step by step in order to not mess up and have to start all over.

"A Dream without a plan is just a wish"
You can't just say you want something and expect for it to occur on its own. You have to work up to it until you succeed this goal. But you can't go towards your goal without having a plan in your mind. Or else things can go ways you didn't expect. High Achievers will reach their goal with little to no help on their own to be able to say they did it.
2)Do what they fear
If someone tells you not to do something because they're scared you might succeed, do it. Most of the time people don't wish good upon others although they say they do. People are very envious although they may hide it. If they see you doing good, they'll most likely try to do bad to you on the lowkey.

"People fear what they don't understand and hate what they can't conquer"
A friend can be a two face and wish bad upon you while pretending to wish the better. They can say they want to see you succeed but can be hoping you don't.
3)Are willing to prepare
do what it takes for your benefit. if you have to prepare then do so as long as its for your best.
4) Are willing to risk failure
just do it. i can't promise you that you'll always get what you want but just go for it. you won't always succeed and indeed fail but get up and try again.
5) Are teachable
teachable- to learn what one is being taught
It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.
it's a teachers job to teach kids what they have to be taught. but it's also their job to make them become interested. Fill them up with knowledge of various things making them want to learn more and more. they get paid to awaken us and get us to feel that feeling of joy from the knowledge they are passing on to us.
6) Have heart
People have to realize that some situations happen without being anyone's fault. It just happens whether we wanted it to happen or not. People have to have a heart and not go around breaking others either. They must have a heart and have sympathy for them, unless there's no other way then okay.
The hear tis made for multiple purposes although its main purpose is to pump blood and keep us alive. It's better to have a heart without words than have words instead of a heart. Words are just chosen letters from the alphabet put together to create a word, it has not much meaning compared to the heart. It's like mind over the heart. The mind would go for things that they believe are better rather than what the heart really wants.
REFLECTION
The Six Attitudes of High Achievers are very important. I somewhat agree to making small plans because sometimes small plans can unexpectedly result into huge deals impacting our lives in a positive way. I like to challenge people and do what they fear. It makes things more interesting and more fun. I'm willing to prepare if I really have too. If not there's a big chance I'll just wing it. I'm willing to risk failure if that's whats bound to happen. If I fail oh well, I can get back up and try again. Many things are teachable, there's just a limit. I have heart, I consider it at times but sometimes you just have to be cold-hearted. I won't commit to it, they'll just happen.

                9 Ways
Be Grateful

She was grateful enough to get a career in doing what she actually loves. Not many people have that opportunity and are forced to work in something else even if it’s not exactly what they love. This job will benefit her for many years and causes her to have a very bright future. For example, soccer players. Many people love playing soccer and wish to play professional soccer. But sometimes no matter how good you are it isn’t enough so you have to start thinking of other opportunities. Manchester was grateful to have the chance to advance in what she loves.
Be Smart
It is better to be smart rather than to be young and beautiful. It may seem untrue to many who prefer the opposite but a smart mind beats all. It’s better to have smarts than to be dumb. One would get manipulated into many things if they weren’t smart enough to tap it out.

Time goes by in a blink of an eye. We experience so much as each day advances most of the time in the difficult moments. After so many years of going through so much you get used to it. Your experience from a certain thing that occurred makes you smarter since you know what to expect or have felt that way before. Experience makes one smarter.
Be involved in good works.

Make sure to do things that benefit not only you but your community. It’s always great to have a helpful person around. An example, helping pick up trash. Although it may not seem like a lot you are helping your environment, plants, animals, people, etc.
Be Clean

Is anyone perfect? Is it okay if you judge someone because of something they did, if you aren’t such person to judge.  For example. A person who goes to church every Sunday and a person who rarely goes. Just because you go to church every Sunday, doesn’t mean you’re a great person who doesn’t sin. And just because you don’t go to church doesn’t mean you live a reckless life not caring. Stop being hypocrites and stop judging people because you aren’t any better.
Be True
I prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence.
Frederick Douglass
its always better to not lie to ourselves or others and always live by the truth. why bother sugarcoating the truth, if in the end its just going to be bs and then reality will hit you hard as hell in the face. start off knowing the truth and although it may be hard, it'll be better in the future. its also good to be true to others because it avoids causing so many problems. why lie to a person if a lie always leads to another and so forth. next thing you know, you'll be lying all the time without you being conscious about it. when you get caught up in the lie, then what? will you lie again or take the blame for all the lies you began in the first place.
Be Positive

Be Positive
You always have to remain positive. Its the only way we can keep going. No matter how rough things get or how bad things seem you just have to keep going. For example when I'm running, I get really tired and stop to walk. But as I think about it, if I continue walking I won't reach my goal in time so I have to keep going. If I stop my consequences would be another mile or so. In this picture Marlon was giving up in finding Nemo but Dory kept encouraging him to keep on going. Dory suffers from a sickness that makes him forget things easily, he doesn't know whether they're going to find Nemo or not and most of the time he doesn't even know what's going on; but he insists to just keep swimming. It's a great example to encourage everyone that no matter at what point they are in, to just keep swimming.
Be Humble
We all were born the same way and we are all leaving this hell hole the same way. No matter what you did in life, no matter how important you were, no matter how rich you were, we're all leaving the same way. No ones going to care how big your house was or how recent your car is, it's going to be gone either way. The rich are an example of having to stay humble. All their luxuries make them feel superior and believe that they have everything but who cares. Our grave is still going to be the same size and we're all leaving either buried and getting eaten by worms or getting burned. Always remember where you came from/ where you started. Stay humble and succeed, don't forget about your family and priorities while attempting to impress the people you don't like with the things you don't want.
Be Prayerful

                                                             Commitment
Commitment- the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc.

Reflection:
Everyone says things every day, they can say they’ll do something without much matter but at times, they have to stay committed. When one gets into a relationship they are committed to stick to that one person. For example, a married couple. They got together in the beginning because they had strong feelings for each other and kept that feeling alive throughout the time that they were together. Because they were confident of what they felt although at times they had a few struggles here and there they were committed to stay together and relive that feeling they had for each other when they had barely gotten together. You could’ve told a girl,” I love you,” just to get in her pants at that moment but if there really is that connection they stay loyal to each other, committed to one another.

“The key to freedom is obedience. The more obedient we are, the more freedom we have.”

Reflection:
This isn’t really a free country. Technically speaking, we don’t get to do whatever we want; we don’t have what many consider freedom. It’s basically; if you listen to the rules and obey what you’re supposed to do you’ll have life easier. For example in a pre-k class, if you do what you’re supposed to do you would get the benefit of receiving food/toys faster than others. If we aren’t obedient or break the law we get shut away, locked up for not obeying. People with power don’t really have freedom of speech, if they said things they weren’t supposed to they’d get sent to get murdered for saying what they weren’t supposed too.
                                                                                Rebellious
Rebellious- showing a desire to resist authority, control, or convention
Reflection:

If people rebelled against our government many things would be different, both in a better yet worse way. There really is no other choice than living the years we are able to in this hell without much of an option.  There is no such thing as freedom because we must follow our government and do as they say. Everyone is expected to go to school, graduate, then attend a college which would leave us in debt, owing so much money for attending a college that careers want us to take for the “benefit” of theirs. The people can obviously overthrow the government but as time goes by, more and more people are instead getting manipulated into thinking that the key to freedom is obedience.

                                                                   A Smile
Smile- form one's features into a pleased, kind, or amused expression, typically with the corners of the mouth turned up and the front teeth exposed.

“I have many problems in my life. But my lips don’t know that. They always smile.”
Reflection:
A smile is always nice to see. No matter what situation you are in keep your head up with a smile on your face. If you have people that don’t like you, that’ll for sure piss them off. No matter what situation you are put into, no matter how many problems you happen to be going through a smile can always help cover them. A smile can fake whatever you are going through and no one ever notices.

                                                                 Determined

Determination: firmness of purpose; resoluteness.
Reflection:

In order for people to succeed they must be determined to do so. You can’t just set a goal and not work for it. “A real loser is somebody that’s so afraid of not winning, they don’t even try.” A person from the beginning can decide how serious they are towards a subject. But for example if they believe they won’t make it doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t. Your attitude towards the situation is very important but along the way one can change their mind and actually try. You must have to be determined and not consider yourself a loser. You have to believe in yourself and know that you can do it.

                                                                9/11

911 was a very devastating day for many people including families. It was a normal day for many in the beginning just bordering a plane either for work or vacation or just to visit a relative. But as the day continued, everything became a mess. As people left to work the thought of it being there last day didn’t cross their mind. It was just a typical day. Until people that were attending certain planes began calling people down on earth and warning them that the plane there in was getting hijacked. Some people weren’t able to answer not knowing that was the last time they were ever going to hear their voices, yet some people did. A plane first crashed onto the north twin tower and then the south tower. Thousands of people were killed that day. There were other places that were crashed too. Police officers and firefighters that were just taking orders and doing their jobs helping people out in order to escape, yet they ended up dying too. For Islamic people it was a great accomplishment from their eyes. Osama Bin Laden was claimed to be the one who planned 911 out.
                                                      "Decisions determine destiny"

Reflection:

Decisions are made everyday, whether they are good or ones or bad ones. Everyday a person does at least 50 decisions without really paying close attention, until they have to do big decisions. There’s two types of people, people that think before acting or people who do without thinking. We do bad decisions all the time, and sometimes they come unexpectedly. At the moment I understand that you regretted making such bad decision but we learn from our mistakes. From making that bad decision we learn from it to avoid doing it again later in life. That’s how life works. Good decisions occur because we learned from our bad decisions. This quote relates to our life planning goals because our decisions lead to better ones.

                                                   Caring
Caring-displaying kindness and concern for others
“It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.”
Reflection:

The time and effort you care for something is what matters the most. The goal one is attempting to reach is what makes it all worth it. When you reach your goal you are able to look back and see that because you cared for it, it reached its final stage. For example, a rose. In order for a rose to keep growing one must care for it from start. From being a seed you have to care for it and water it when needed to or else it would dry out as it attempts to keep going.

                                Attitude
Attitude-a settled way of thinking or feeling about someone or something, typically one that is reflected in a person's behavior.

Reflection:

In order to get rid of a problem you have to be positive about yourself being able to surpass it. One must have that positive attitude towards the problem to make ourselves to keep going.  A problem may seem like a hard situation because it obviously is but one has to maintain that attitude do make that problem not be a problem anymore.

"A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder."
                                                            Thomas Carlyle
Reflection:
A ship relies on its rudder to keep going, without it, it cannot keep on going. It is necessary for a man to have goals so he can know which way to steer. Setting goals will help him get to the point where he wants to reach, where he can turn around at that point and be happy that he succeeded up to there. Without a rudder a ship wouldn't be able to keep going and stay in that position. People who succeed their goals are achievers who had this goal from the start and keep going even if he already accomplished it.
Answer:
This quote relates to our 100+ life planning goals because it relies on our goals. Our goals are where we want our rudder to take us. I am determined to succeed all my goals at some point in my life, hopefully very soon. My number one goal right now is to be done taking CTR classes.

                                                        Assertiveness
Assertiveness is the quality of being self-assured and confident without being aggressive. In the field of psychology and psychotherapy, it is a learnable skill and mode of communication.

Reflection:

Clearly the woman in this picture has had many problems in her life and a most recent one. The guy could’ve have told her to move on with her life in several different mean words yet preferred to choose the funny way to tell her. While sending the message he was also cheering her up a bit which is what she needs in the situation. He was confident enough to tell her without being aggressive or get her into tears. This showing a way of communication.
